Cabral "Cabbie" Richards is a Canadian personality, television host on "Sportscentre" on TSN, a Canadian sports cable television network, while also corresponding for the The Marilyn Denis Show, on CTV.
Originally an intern at The Score, Richards hosted five-minute segments called Cabbie on the Street from 2001–02. After leaving The Score Television Network, Cabbie hosted & produced NBAXL and J-Zone on Rogers Sportsnet from 2002-2005. Richards returned to The Score Television Network in 2005 to host "Cabbie on the Street", then developed "Cabbie Unlimited" and briefly hosted "Cabbie All Stars". Cabbie hosted "NBA Court Surfing" and the "Hardcore Hoops Show" on The Score Satellite Radio. Richards left The Score on November 30, 2010.
On December 16, 2010, CTV announced in a press release that Cabbie would be joining The Marilyn Denis Show in January 2011 as a special correspondent.[1]. On the The Marilyn Denis Show, on CTV Cabral brings the male perspective in conversations about relationships, while also filing reports with Hollywood actors, musicians and everyday Canadians on the street.
On June 1, 2011, TSN announced in a press release that Cabbie would join the network as host of a weekly segment on the Friday editions of SportsCentre called Cabbie Presents, while still maintaining his special correspondent position with The Marilyn Denis Show.[2]. "Cabbie Presents" offers a light-hearted slice of life look at professional athletes, with a sketch-based format to the segment. Richards has taken batting practice with Jose Bautista, sought career advice from Steve Nash and launched rockets with Corey Perry.
Richards uses an unorthodox and animated style in his interviews which endears him to the A-List athletes he's interviewed including: Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, Tony Hawk, Shaun White, Sidney Crosby, Jerry Rice, Wayne Gretzky, and Derek Jeter.
